Green Chef - Southwest Turkey Stuffed Peppers

This is Mama Miche and today in My Magic Kitchen, we are making a meal from one of the many food delivery services out there - Green Chef. Today’s meal kit is Southwest Turkey Stuffed Peppers. We’ve tried a couple of other similar services but this was by far our favorite. Green Chef offers recipes with GF or vegan or paleo, or whatever! It is the most versatile service to accommodate our lifestyle.

I’ve made stuffed peppers many times but never with a southwest taste profile and I’ve never done the peppers this way. Learning a different approach can open the mind to many possibilities. Green Chef delivers fresh, quality ingredients and they come with some delicious sauces in the kits. The directions are easy to read and follow. The only thing I would possibly complain about is the prep and cook times are much shorter than we find it actually takes. And I have my sous-chef hubster helping me out!

Green Chef has a diverse menu to keep mealtime interesting and new every time. The recipes are flavorful and delicious and even the kids love almost everything we prepare. They allow me to have a wonderful meal and not have to worry about feeling bad afterward. It’s a great addition to my repertoire of dishes to serve during the week.

What does redefining comfort food even mean? What is it about certain foods that make you feel better or elevate your mood? Is it scientific? Is it psychological? Is it a combination? I think it’s a combination. There are many foods, herbs and spices that are known for their healing properties. Conversely, there are also many foods or styles of cooking that, while they may be of comfort psychologically don’t really make you feel better long term because they cause inflammation, and all other kinds of health issues.

Processed foods are a rabbit hole of dirty ingredients that seem to make life easier because of the ease of preparation but they definitely add to inflammation which is the root cause of all illness. Fast food isn’t even real food sometimes. It’s a travesty. If our bodies are our temples, the food we put in it is our worship. Healthy choices are often hard to make because they can take more time and energy and busy people can’t take the time away from the busy-ness of their lives.

Redefining comfort food sometimes means exchanging unhealthy ingredients for healthy ones. And you discover healthier alternatives taste even better. Especially when they aren’t followed by pain and inflammation. Sometimes it means simplifying recipes and having a short, whole-food ingredient list and a simple, tasty spice blend to pull it all together. Sometimes it means trying a food delivery service because staples in your meal rotation can easily become ruts. Every day, it’s the same thing, variety.

Sometimes, we all need a little help making our kitchen magic.

Notes:

We are not posting a recipe this week because this is not my recipe. And while I am happy to share my experience with Green Chef, I am not going to share their recipes. You will just have to try it yourself. But they offer trials and free meals, so I hope you try them. For the record, I was not asked by Green Chef or compensated for this review. I just wanted to share this with you.
